BÜK STUDIOS & Co., is excited to announce the Grand Opening of their location close to Western Michigan University’s campus within Kalamazoo, Michigan on May 15, 2017 at 12pm. The studio is located on West KL Ave, attached to Maui Beach Club Tanning and across from WMU Apparel & Gifts: The Spirit Shoppe.

The studio location is 1,982 square feet of modern industrial mixed with a vintage flair. The owner of BÜK STUDIOS, Christina E. Wright, originally secured the location in March 08, 2017 on International Women's Day with many ideas for potential renovation.

Inspired from her background of growing up in the West Coast with family in San Francisco, Christina designed the space to be reminiscent of unique historical buildings, Union Square retail stores, and a blend of modern, hole-in-the-wall coffee shops—creating a comforting nostalgia and familiar sense of welcoming to all who visit the studio. Complimentary coffees, treats, Wi-Fi, music, and streaming television is readily available to all guests. They aim to maintain an all-inclusive gender-friendly and family friendly atmosphere.

BÜK STUDIOS & Co., believes in the authenticity of the history and stories behind everything, as well as proudly being in the community and of the community. The studio building was originally built as a Sunoco Gas Station approximately 65 years ago, before turning into a print shop in 1980, and finally a salon location in 2011. The stylists’ stations are equipped with extra shelving area, by utilizing Bourbon Barrels originally from Kentucky, that were most recently utilized by Fenn Valley in Saugatuck, Michigan for creating a variety of wine locally. The studio intends to showcase local artists’ artwork above their complimentary Beverage Bar, to showcase their talent in the form of a mini gallery.

The name BÜK comes from the nickname Christina E. Wright’s father gave to her mother when they first began dating—with the German umlaut (the two dots above the ‘u’), paying homage to the owner’s birthplace of Würzburg, Germany as an American citizen born abroad.

BÜK STUDIOS is a full-service studio and salon that offers an array of services—from hairstyling and haircoloring, advanced nail technician work, Bridal/Event packages, full-body waxing, to an esthetician’s office from within for deluxe spa facials and clinical grade chemical peels. Every stylist and associate of BÜK STUDIOS is an individualized artist with unique skills and a passionate mind for the Beauty Industry. The studio is also home to an upcoming project for the local college students and aspiring entrepreneurs of the area, called POINT Modeling Agency, Co. The Couture Salon and POINT Modeling Agency, Co. will partner in artistic collaborations for quarterly mini editorials, look books, bridal shows, and hair shows. The official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will commence at 12pm, followed by a speech by the owner and the teams, as well as a toast with local wine provided by the Henderson Castle of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Sparkling cider will be offered to underage minors and others. Complimentary hor d'oeuvres will be served while guests may tour the studio.
